finals week - the dreaded week

boy, where did the all this time go lah? job has been pretty taxing. now we're in the midst of final exams, which only means one thing - in a couple of weeks i'll be swamped with exams to grade, and this is the thing i hate most about being a lecturer. looking through pages and pages of the same old answers, none that really could make me stop and say "hey, this guy or this girl can really answer the damn question well!" instead, i have to tolerate the lame text-book answers which don't really prove to me that the students have learned something from the class. but then again, it's really not the students' fault. we, the lecturers are just as guilty. we tend to rely so much on the textbook when preparing the exams...and in return, duh, you will get textbook answers. the real reason is because lecturers like myself, who are still new in the world of academia lack the finesse and experience to write really good exam papers. and the thing is, we, the lecturers are not given sufficient time to really understand the material we're teaching, let alone to come with exam papers! hiyoo...so, i really hope next semester i will have enough time to really plan out my syllabus, and construct a really mind-challenging exam, one which will have students scratching their heads, nose, ears, etc..
i've come to realize that it's a bit pointless for me to be carrying home work-related stuff as i NEVER get to do anything anyway. over the past week, i've been heret-ing my bag which is full of articles from journals, and books which i plan to make as reference, etc..balik rumah, hmmmm memang tak tengok pun. oh well, at least the niat is there, kan? haha..
my weekend was spent in KL, celebrating the belated birthday of my mom and an early birthday for mr. leo mommy. we had a bbq, and it was a good one. yours truly did the marinate, and got many compliments throughout the night..ehem ehem...hubby's real birthday is this saturday, so i might outdo myself and plan something real nice for him. :)
okaylah, gotta try to get back to that bag of reading i'm supposed to do..till then, Happy Melaka day to all Malaccans! yeah, today is melaka day, for those of you who don't know that.
